Prepare manuscripts in a structure that supports editorial assessment, peer review, production, XML generation, and indexing without avoidable revision cycles.
Document structure
Use a clear manuscript order: title page, abstract, keywords, main text, declarations, references, tables, and figure legends. Section headings should be consistent and hierarchical so reviewers and production teams can identify the argument and supporting evidence quickly. For research articles, standard headings such as Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion are preferred unless the journal section specifies an alternative format.
Tables, figures, and supplementary files
Figures must be cited in sequence and uploaded in publication-ready quality. Table titles and figure captions should explain content without forcing readers to search the main text for context. Supplementary files should be labeled consistently and described in the manuscript so editors can confirm what is part of the scholarly record.
Style and consistency checks
Define abbreviations on first use, use SI units where appropriate, and ensure references, citations, tables, and figures match exactly. Copyediting delays often come from inconsistent labeling, missing declarations, or broken citation lists. Authors should review journal-specific word limits and reporting checklists before final submission.
